Perlino stallion
Streaks Pale Rider, aka "Pistol"
|
 |
Here is a beautiful example of the perlino color. Although his sire is
not AQHA, he has a lot of that in his pedigree (see below) and his dam is
appendix AQHA. His sire is evidently a buckskin (bay plus one cream gene) like
his dam, though his sire is registered as "dun", an old naming
practice now discontinued. His sire also carries 2 overo genes (or he
wouldn't show it) so he has passed one on to Pistol, making half of Pistol's
offspring likely to carry the overo gene. And of course, every foal of a
perlino is going to be at least a single-cream-gene color: Palomino, buckskin or
smoky black. Owned by My Kolors Show Horses in Melrose, MN.
