Smoky Cream
Home Back

The smoky cream has two cream genes on a black base.  How exciting to see how far we've come since this web page was first created!  Than, they were assumed to exist, but there were none confirmed!  Now, we know of many confirmed smoky creams, in many breeds - DNA testing has made it easy.  The three on this page happen to be Lusitanos.

Click to enlarge!  Alexandra Dees, registrar of the IALHA, writes: Here is a photo of a Lusitano mare "TeTe VA" who is a confirmed smoky cream Ee aa CrCr.  She is rather light shaded and has light caramel color on her points.

These pictures are all of  Suzan Sommer's  DNA-verified smoky cream stallion  Xerox.  The darker color appearance in some of the pics may be caused by the setting sun.

These two, below, are the color he was when this webmaster saw him in person in October 2006.
Please click these two to enlarge them.

The other 4 are not clickable, sorry.
